+ have a [Home Office travel document](/apply-home-office-travel-document), for example you're a refugee or stateless person

+ have a [Marriage Visitor visa](/marriage-visa)

Otherwise, you’ll need to apply for either a:

* [Direct Airside Transit visa](/transit-visa/direct-airside-transit-visa) if you’re not going through border control
* [Visitor in Transit visa](/transit-visa/visitor-in-transit-visa) if you’re going through border control
