I need to test on field hardware to confirm behavior. I believe the current behavior is that there is a DNS server running in the at home configuration and a DNS server running on both the radio and the field in the event configuration. This results in robot devices being able to lookup other robot devices but the DS not being able to lookup anything on the robot.
I don't really understand question 2. I would expect DNS lookups to be what works or not based on the presence of a DNS server.
The Radio Programming (home use) section says "DNS server enabled" and the Networking Basics - DNS for FRC section says "On the field and in the pits, there is no DNS server".
Please note there is a distinction between DNS and mDNS.
