Why does the tool function require parameters object?

What is the function I intend to call on user's intention does not require any paramters? Would it make sense to make parameters options on typescript side?

I wasn't searching for a solution but rather asking a question in the room whether it makes sense to have parameters object as required or optional. Thanks for your quick response though.

we have tried; it breaks type inference for tool calls and results; if it wouldn't we'd have changed this more than half a year ago
