Video version of the newsletter #1462
Comments
There's effort currently to attempt to revive the newsletter ; as the late answer suggests there's definitely a lack the organizational power to get this done correctly right now. I like the idea though, and I'd suggest making those videos after the blog entry is published, then next month entry can link it, just so people who missed last month have another media to consume, add more visibility and provides a recap to last month. What do you think ? |
That would be perfect! That way the interest in the video form can also be gauged. And yes I do agree about organizational power, a lot of things can be improved and streamlined... |
While I feel comfortable speaking in front of a camera and having my face on the internet etc. I unfortunately don't have time to do these. But I'll support whoever wants to create such videos and will make sure to link them :) This also goes for any YouTube Rust content creator that might read this: if you ever do a video going over a newsletter, let me know! |
Newsletter is amazing so far in the way it gathers the updates in Rust world monthly. I just had an idea of maybe running the topics down through a video series too to discuss the updates and publish them on the Rust gamedev YouTube channel as whole and/or other social media accounts by dissecting the video into smaller short form chunks.
Some of the inspiration can be the the Linux Experiment YouTube channel that does a quick rundown of Linux related news. Something similar could be viable and not need a ton of effort. The videos can use Adobe Enhance for audio enhancement, along with using the open source video editors/Davinci resolve free edition/Capcut. Very simple toolchain, very simple edits for the start.
Another benefit can be of the audio visual form making it easier to consume news on the go, and can raise the voice of gamedev community on the social media more.
I can volunteer on making these videos, however everyone else is welcome as well.
