Apparently .max files can only be used with 3d Studio Max. Those of us who are not professional 3d artists are unlikely to own a copy of that program.
It would be nice if all those .max files in the resources/src folder could be converted to a format that can be imported, for example, by the free and open-source Blender software.
Looking at the Import... menu item in Blender, there is a 3ds importer as well as one for .obj. The last one may be more generic; I have no way of knowing.
