Hi all! Over at OpenNeuroOrg/openneuro#2712, we've been wanting to add a landing page for NIRS datasets, but somewhat embarrassingly, we've been held up on finding a good image that would be recognizably derived from fNIRS data/analysis.
The following image from your docs seems perfect, with sensor placement indicators along with a BOLD-like activation blob:
We see that the data is released with no license on https://osf.io/xwerv, the package is BSD, and there is no particular license on the docs, so it's either BSD (whatever that means) or all-rights-reserved.
I was hoping we could clarify the license and reuse this image (with credit). We would probably crop it to something like:
Thanks in advance for your consideration.

(I am not a lawyer). my opinion is that it would be possible to run that tutorial locally and re-generate the figure yourself, and you would then be free to use it. Given that, you might as well just use the one we've already generated in the docs and not bother recreating it locally. Attribution would be appreciated.
@software{mne_nirs,
author = {Luke, Robert and Larson, Eric and Gouailhardou, Nathalie and Shader, Maureen and Pop, Florin and Gramfort, Alexandre and Newman, Aaron and Rockhill, Alex and Kiefer, Alexander and Arthur, Christian and McCloy, Daniel and Sleiter, Darin Erat and Mohan, Girish and Benerradi, Johann and Busato, Nicolas},
title = {{MNE-NIRS: Near-Infrared Spectroscopy Analysis}},
month = jun,
year = {2024},
version = {0.7.0},
url = {https://mne.tools/mne-nirs/}
}
You may want to edit that citation to link to the actual docs page where the image came from? And/or change the title to "Documentation of MNE-NIRS" or whatever. Though beware that the URL contains stable so the page content may change in future releases.
Please don't take my response as final until either @larsoner or @rob-luke also weigh in.
