Show stdout & stderr in pytest

How can I inspect the stdout and stderr in the pytest TEST RESULTS tab or pop up? Similar to how the Python Test Log in the OUTPUT tab shows the pytest execution results.

I have already tried using each argument that is listed in this article in the python.testing.pytestArgs list but it keeps showing the same output.

Hi! This is currently not possible to send the output to the test result panel. I have a feature request out for that here which you can comment on and upvote to boost its place in our queue of work. Im going to close this as that issue can track the progress but please comment if I misunderstood and you are asking about something else. Thanks!

The Test Results panel used to show the captured stdout until this month. Not sure what happened?
Now I have to run pytest from the Terminal panel instead:

$ python -m pytest -- tests/mytest.py::test_name
...
plugins: Faker-23.3.0, mock-3.12.0, anyio-3.7.1, nbval-0.11.0
collected 1 item                                                                                                                                                           

... my stdoutput here ...
F

The Terminal panel also has other advantages, like syntax highlighting.
Not sure why the Test Result panel can't have this too.

Hi! Could you send a screenshot of what you are seeing? We do still put it in the test result panel and have made no changes in this area

I was expecting the text "HELLO!!!" to be somewhere in the test result panel

Hi! You should see a section header like this that contains the print statement:

do you not have this listed anywhere? Can you try running this test from the command line and see because the output we show is just what we get from pytest
