Split-complex numbers would finish out our set of:

real numbers
complex numbers
dual numbers

A split-complex, or hyperbolic, number is similar to complex or dual numbers, except that i^2 == 1.

Notes:

Looks like there is some nice geometric exposition we could do in the hyperbolic plane: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Split-complex_number#Geometry
