The real life use case was Amandine trying to create a chat room with someone who shared their matrix id with her. It happened when they were discussing in real life. Amandine probably did not wait for 30s and just concluded that invite by user id did not work.
We do not the config of the other person HS. The warning in the app after 30s is bit scary, especially if the matrix id is valid.

EXA has the same issue. The fix should be in the SDK but we have some discovery to do first at the app level.

I picked up a random domain name in the steps to reproduce. There is likely no matrix hs there. The app behaves differently depending on the random server name.
