Is it possible to remove unnecessary packages ?

The ISO build will simply fail if you try to build with some packages missing, core packages like vyos-1x have dependency chain that eventually links this package to everything else. There may be also runtime dependencies like the boot process may start specific service on boot thus excluding packages is problematic and there is no easy or universal way to do so. The VyOS is implemented as monolith.

telegraph, single file seems take above 100mb ，mikrotik is much smaller.

In theory you can remove the telegraph given it's started by it's own service - so runtime would be okay. What is the easiest way to do this? This is tricky - you can totally customize the image by the means of live-build hooks, where you can place shell script and interact with APT - but I will assume that if you try to uninstall telegraph via APT that may also uninstall other packages that are dependent on it, I don't know exactly how the dependency graph looks like so I'm just guessing. Whatever the case is - you need to do something in live-build hook, how exactly you can remove the packages I have no idea (apt remove, rm -rf, whatever...) but that is the easiest way to do it.

The hooks are shell scripts placed in the data/live-build-config/hooks/live directory of vyos-build thus something like data/live-build-config/hooks/live/myhook.chroot. This script will be execute during the live-build process inside chroot of the image being build - before the image is packaged into ISO - thus whatever you do there - that will be the result.

The idea of putting vyos on mikrotik is very ambitious, isn't the mikrotik using different CPU architecture? I don't know if that is even feasible to do so even if you manage to shrink it down.

thank you so much , I will have a try .. mikrotik also support x86 ,you can even install it on any metal server/pc/vm ,but its base os is not debian , much smaller .
