Have you thought about adding a option to instead of having the bars line up horizontally just having them stacked up vertically?
I'd love to be able to have the meter on the side of my screen and literally have top dps on top.

Could you build a mockup though? I guess it's just a bit hard to visualize it. Would the bars themselves be vertical? What about the text, should they be vertical too or horizontal but in 90 degrees?

I'm not playing the game right now so I couldn't test it but I could try to mock it too and start planing another version.
