Is there an existing issue for this?

  • I have searched both the existing open issues & recently closed issues and did not find a duplicate of this issue.

I have read about the Fleet API and understand I may need to use it

  • I understand issues relating to read only commands will be auto closed if not using the Fleet API.

Version of the Tesla component

3.24.1

Version of the Tesla car software

2024.26.3.1

Model

Model 3

Current Behavior

The fleet API setup has completed but no commands can be issued to the car. The Integration pulls the current state of the car when it is awake, but any commands issued from home assistant simply time out with a generic error.

Expected Behavior

Some commands should be possible, within the fleet API limits

I am facing the same issue at the Moment.
Retrieving Data is possible but sending commands results in the same error as above.

Same problem here for a 2023 Model Y. Receiving data works fine.

I have this same issue, but only with one car. I have a Model 3 SR 2023 that has worked perfectly, with Fleet API, since I first set it up a few months ago. I just purchased a Highland LR RWD yesterday and reloaded the Tesla integration. It found the new vehicle and added it to HA. I'm able to query for data with no issue, but trying to send commands results in similar errors as shown above.

@alandtse can I help with diagnosing this at all? Seems like its affecting a fair number of people

I don't use fleet API so you'll need to find someone who does for any pr work.

I have the same issue on a brand new car. I have triple checked the installation and approved the virtual key and yet commands cannot be sent. Only data can be read and updated.

@eingram23
Copy link

Turns out my issue was forgetting the step of enrolling the public key in my vehicle. I had done it last year on my first car but forgot about it the second time around.

https://github.com/llamafilm/tesla-http-proxy-addon/blob/main/tesla_http_proxy/DOCS.md

“Using the Home Assistant iOS app, open the Addon Web UI and click Enroll public key in your vehicle. This should launch the Tesla app where it prompts for approval to "allow third-party access to your vehicle". If you have multiple vehicles, you'll need to do this on each of them. Your Tesla app must already be key-paired with the car.”

@MrNickIE
Copy link

This is not my issue though. I have approved on the car with the App and it was successful. Yet it appears I still cannot control anything.

I do not know how to gather logs but will if someone can help.
