Kiribati has been split in certain files, but not in others. This folder should be checked and updated to be consistent with our v2017 regions and this file called by UNgeorgn() in common.R . In particular, georegion_labels.rda is out of date and makes gap filling by georegion inconvenient.
In addition, the regions in our methods document lists three different Kiribati, but they do not reflect what they look like in our files (Line Islands (Kiribati), Phoenix Islands (Kiribati), and Gilbert Islands (Kiribati))
This is also an issue with name_2_rgn() which calls rgn_master, and does not have the correct names for Kiribati. This file may be where the methods document is calling from as it has the same information as the website.

My distant memory is that Kiribati is something that is split at the very
end.
It originally wasn't divided into 3 regions, but at the end of an
assessment, someone took issue with that and we quickly split it.
So: that is the reason this region is a bit hacky. But we should consider
how to make this better.
