What's missing in pyrad is perhaps a dataset that allows you to make statistics of raw (polar) measurements in a 3D grid (GRID_STATS ?), e.g. the maxecho would be the max of ZH in a grid of 1kmx1km x an arbitrary (infinite) height. This kind of processing would be quite flexible. We do have something that calculates stats on elevation, azimuth range sectors (https://meteoswiss.github.io/pyrad/overview/list_products.html#write-stats), but it's not the same.
