Necroware's GamePort Adapter firmware does not yet support Force Feedback (though someone as recently started working on that for the Necroware's GamePort Adapter hardware), but it does have other advantages, such as being fully open-source licensed under the GPL-3.0 license and including support for many other retro joysticks and gamepads.
The downside to Necroware's GamePort Adapter firmware is that it currently requires the hardware to have a DIP-switch for changing controller mode, which is something that I do not personally think is a bad idea, however might be solved in a other manor, or otherwise add a DIP-switch to your next board design?
